Why explore Gozo by eBike?

Gozo is 14 kilometres across, ringed by cliffs and coves, and stitched together by quiet lanes between honey-coloured villages. It is the perfect size for a bike and, thanks to the hills, the perfect place for an electric one. An eBike turns the climb out of Xlendi or the long pull up from Ramla Bay into something you barely notice, so you spend your energy on the views, the swims and the ftira, not the gradient.

It also solves the day-tripper's problem. If you arrive on the morning ferry without a car, the bus timetable decides your day. On a bike you can see Ramla, Xagħra, Victoria and the salt pans and still make the evening crossing. We have written that day out hour by hour in our Gozo day trip itinerary.

Gozo Activities is a local company, based on the island. Read our guide to the best cycling routes in Gozo, our things to do in Gozo guide, or leave your email below for 15% off when we launch.

Our Gozo eBike routes

These are the loops we ride ourselves and the ones every rider will get. Distances are approximate and every route includes at least one place to swim.

18km

Victoria to Dwejra and the Inland Sea

West across the island through Għarb and San Lawrenz to the cliffs at Dwejra, with a swim at the Inland Sea before the ride back.

22km

North coast: Marsalforn, the salt pans and Wied il-Għasri

A flat, scenic coast road past the Xwejni salt pans to the gorge at Għasri, then inland through Żebbuġ.

14km

Xagħra, Ġgantija and Ramla Bay

Temples first, then a long downhill to the red sand at Ramla and a well-earned climb back for lunch in Xagħra.

26km

South loop: Xlendi, Sannat and the Ta’ Ċenċ cliffs

Fjord views at Xlendi, the highest cliffs on the island at Ta’ Ċenċ and quiet farm lanes back to Victoria.

35km

Round-the-island day ride

The full circuit, guided, with stops for swims, a ftira lunch and the best viewpoints. The battery does the hills.

Best cycling routes
How much does it cost to rent an eBike in Gozo?

We are confirming our rates now and they will be published on this page before bookings open. What we can tell you is what the price will include: helmet, lock, phone holder, mapped routes and roadside support, with no extras added at the counter.

When can I book an eBike in Gozo?

We are getting the bikes ready now. Leave your email and we will send you 15% off your first booking of 3 days or more the moment bookings open. We will email you the moment your dates can be confirmed.

Where do I collect the bike?

Pickup is central gozo, near victoria. Mġarr ferry terminal, by arrangement for day-trippers arriving from Malta, and delivery to your accommodation anywhere on gozo, by arrangement.

Do I need to be fit to ride an eBike around Gozo?

No. Gozo is hilly, and that is exactly what the electric motor is for. If you can ride a bicycle you can ride our routes. Guided tours go at the pace of the group.

What is included in the price?

Every hire comes with helmet, lock, phone holder, mapped routes, roadside support. You get the routes as a map link on your phone and a number that answers if anything goes wrong on the road.

Can I take the eBike on the Gozo ferry?

Yes. Bicycles cross on the Ċirkewwa car ferry cheaply or free, and the ride up from Mġarr harbour is the steepest climb on the island, which is a good argument for the motor. If you are coming for the day we can meet you at the terminal instead.

Can I rent an eBike without a guide?

Yes. We offer both guided tours and self-ride hire with suggested routes, maps and support if anything goes wrong on the road.

Is Gozo safe for cycling?

Roads between the villages are quiet, especially outside July and August, and our routes favour coast roads and farm lanes over the main arteries. Helmets are included.

How far can I get on one charge?

Further than you will need. Gozo is about 14 kilometres across and our longest planned loop is 35 kilometres, well within the range of a typical eBike battery even with the motor working on the hills.
